Where applicable, I will link to any specific posts about the cars featured. Let’s get started.

I’m a sucker for a S quareback but that Corvair also has my attention.

All of them !

Really like those with a good contrast with the forest itself in the composition .

The remaining problem being that for most of them, it’s hard to determine which color they are/were... (:

Aww that squareback, we had a red one when I was a little kid, we called it the fire engine. I miss the smell of those things. I would totally drive one with a Subaru swap.

Standard always struck me as a weird name for a British car brand. Kind of like naming a car “the Adequate”. Like... they set the standard for cars, but that’s it? They do seem to have been reasonably popular back in the day, so maybe there was a market for a car that marketed itself as perfectly average....

Sorry my original comment got Kinja’d and was not intended for you.

I love squarebacks. They’re just such a unique combination even if they are a little slow. I’ll b et a rear engined air cooled two door station wagon from Germany would score high on the How Oppo is Your Car post.

But I also love Corvairs. I’m really torn here.

Would you drive a normal one though? Not everything has to be fast. Though I suspect even a fire engine could outrun it.

I do love me a squareback though. They’re not something you ever really see around.

Thank you. Basically, I usually just take photos with my phone which has a crappy digital zoom. I took these with a meh handheld camera with a surprisingly good zoom so I wanted to use it. It can be tricky to know what details to isolate but I love framing an unusual composition.

I do love the added depth of having foreground in a photo. For instance the tiny bit of headliner just made this picture for me. Of all the parts of a rare old Bordward to photograph the glove box is probably pretty low down most people’s list but I think I made it work.

Here’s a few bonus photos =)

So what would the GM Parthenon of brands be called for that naming scheme? Standard, Premium, and Deluxe?

I really like that glovebox, the contrast between the paint and the rust makes me think of a coral reef :

Kinja'd!!!

The front fascias are also very nice, looking like t ired old dogs , overwhelmed by the world evolving around them.

Except dogs don’t fall apart if left out in the rain too long. Well, I hope no dog of mine would.

Yes, they are like limping old wet dogs that tried to hunt moles but failed :(

It’s a whole lot more depressing when you put it like that.

Kinja'd!!!

Cars are not exactly like sad wet doggos.

Yeah I would drive one/own one, you can put a super beetle motor in and dual carb it.

I like how everything you've said about it has been about which engine to swap in.

Well the bigger CC is still a VW! I know a guy with a Thing and he put the larger CC in with better carbs and it is pretty good. I do love them though, I would own a stock one for sure. It was slow going over the Pali Highway with a bunch of kids in it though.

There's a guy that semi dailies a bright yellow Thing I always used to see around. Less so in cold weather but it's a fun looking vehicle.

Updated Nazi kubelwagens are delightful. Pretty funny they made that design mainstream. I guess we have Jeeps so...
